Description

N-Methylaniline is an aniline derivative. It is an organic compound with the chemical formula C6H5NH(CH3). The substance exists as a colorless or slightly yellow viscous liquid and turns brown when exposed to air. The chemical is insoluble in water. It is used as a latent and coupling solvent and is also used as an intermediate for dyes, agrochemicals and other organic products manufacturing. It is a gasoline additive, used to raise the octane number, more effective than Methyl tert-butyl ether.

With the dosage of 0.5-3.0%(V/V) in gasoline NMA increases its RON by 2-13 points, depending on the gasoline& acute;s composition.In additional, NMA improves the performance characteristics of gasoline, such as:
Reduces the fuel consumption of the vehicles 2-10% per 100km and reduces exhaust emissions (CO and HC) by 10-40%;It improves the stability of gasoline during transportation and storage,also reduces the cost of maintenance for gasoline storage containers;It can be used with other ZX additives to get more efficiency.Also can be used as an intermediate in dyes and API& acute;s production, it is an important solvent in many production process.
