Description
Green tea contains polyphenols, a form of bioflavonoids with several phenol groups. The polyphenols in green tea are catechins, known as tanins for their astringent taste. The most important catechin in tea is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCg), an antioxidant 200 times more powerful than vitamin E in neutralizing the pro-oxidants and free radicals that attack lipids in the brain and 20 times more powerful in reducing formation of peroxid in lard by the Active Oxygen method, in vitro. It is known to have anticarcinogenic effect.
