Reducing heating and cooling costs by half, if true, would be welcome, especially inverter given the ever increasing electric and gas rates we are subjected to. Seems like there should be a federal subsidy to get every house retrofitted as quickly as possible. Only problem is, how do you keep the thieves from stealing the solar panels?

Seems a complex method to me: first make electricity and then power your AC with solar power inverter. Why not use solar inverter collectors to drive an absorption cooler? In the winter, you can make hot tap water and heat your home too.

All this is is a small solar panel with a micro inverter gridtied at the AC condensor. Which probably won& acute;t make 1/100th of the electricity consumed by the condenser in the course of the summer. But they& acute;ll be hugely successful as a marketing tool. And lots of folks will be mislead into thinking they are really saving big. Old 8 and 10 SEER units will be replaced by high efficiency power inverter units with a solar panel tacked on, and the homeowner will attribute his savings to the solar panel inverter.
