Polyvinyl butyral (or PVB) is a resin mostly used for applications that require strong binding, optical clarity, adhesion to many surfaces, toughness and flexibility.

The PVB interlayer is clear and therefore invisible when viewed through the glass.
The thickness of a PVB interlayer affects the level of safety of the glass. By increasing the thickness, levels of safety in excess of the minimum legal requirements can be achieved.
Typically in laminated glass manufacturing process, PVB interlayer is sandwiched between two layers of glass.
Should the glass break, the fragments stick to the interlayer, which is called & quot;spidar web& quot; effection， and so the integrity of the glass is maintained.
